Pre-Millennial

There is it. It happened.
Fashion went and poked around your teenage wardrobe and stamped a big fat 'ANCIENT' sign all over it.

No not the 90's, that's been done (I'm not there just yet). I'm talking about the era of the socialites who socialised face to face or via a Nokia 3310 (always.) Us early naughties girls who considered a triple-tiered skirt, spaghetti-strap top and even strappier sandals the go-to of the new millennia.

Jesus has it been that long?

Of course, fashion will always love a good dose of subcultural nostalgia. But with style in the 00's proving that the 00's should just stay within THE 00's - there's only one thing to do when designers drag them back out again.

(re)Introducing the denim bustier. Hated it back then. Love it now. Too sexy to swing about solo for a girl of 16 and even 26. However, layer it over a simple white tee or a crisp white shirt and team with simple lace-ups and you've brought the Miss Sixty's signature straight into 2015.

And if you're really feeling nostalgic.

They say you can't have your cake and eat it, but I'm sure the same rules don't apply when taking a well orchestrated snap.

However, always bear in mind that waiters, diners and (in this case) the Head Chef will be watching you.

Such is well then that said cuisinier lapped up my review just as much as I lapped up his cold soup.

Maturus Palatus - noun

The final stage of maturity for one's palate whereby tastes once considered 'disgusting, awful or too adult' are now held in high esteem.

Red wine, flat whites, dark chocolate.

Mast Brothers Chocolate to be precise.

Adulthood. It's so....

Wild.

Skin Food, Pomegranate and other Delicacies.

There is only so much small talk one can make with an Aesop employee.
Before you know it; you know them, they know you and the sweet aroma of mandarin rind and wild rosemary has become a scent filled with prominent suspicion.

So I hold my aromatique hand-balmed hands up!? But the phrase 'try before you buy' holds with me for at least a dozen tries before I even consider making a purchase. It's my belief they predicted their own demise when they installed those outdoor dispensors.

Complimentary testing aside, it's true that beauty products don't maintain with such high esteem for me.
I like to credit healthy skin and a somewhat dewy complexion to a 'get out what you put in' regime, with just a few little extras.
Plenty of water, your five (pushing for more) a day and an added cosmetic helping from the otherwise remotely known brand - Weleda.

A Berliner recommendation (danke Von Heyden), Weleda's wunder-cremes have become a staple in my beauty bag since I discovered them in the German capital last autumn.
The unsung heroes of the 'all-natural, all-ethical' world; their Skin Food does exactly as it would suggest and feeds into my hands, elbows and face with deep penetration for a fully-nourished effect. Although slightly on the thick-ish side, it works intensively on dry, flaky and dull skin - an all too common feature of living in a city such as London.

On the move and away from Aesop, I treat my hands to Weleda's Pomegranate Regenerating Hand Cream. Softening them up in what feels like an instant with a subtle and clean-smelling fragrance, the only downturn I do have is that the cream can take more than enough time to completely permeate.

And sitting on my wish-list, saldy not yet my bathroom shelf, is the Weleda Wild Rose Smoothing Mask.
A sweet pick-me-up and (drum roll please) my first active fight against the evil enemy society calls 'ageing'. Staying on the good side of my 20's is something I - if not most of us?- would like to continue to do, and if I'm going by what I've seen of the women in Berlin.... lather me up!

Woah, woah - just hold on for one second.

The ad clearly says cut-glass cheekbones, eyebrow avidity and an 'up-do' to shame an 'up-don't' and you're selling me this?

'I think I'll take the Berry Sunrise with added Sun Warrior Vegan Protein and a Goodness Bowl to go'

Said no one.

Not at least this side of the Atlantic but give or take a year and a half et voilà!
Meat is out. Veg is in.
Safe to say your best friend's now a 'vegan', your mum's a 'vegan', you're a 'vegan' and even that sausage sitting in-between your dad's rolls is made by Quorn.

My dears, welcome to the age of the GOOD LIFE

Never before has the nutritive state of one's social network scored so many dairy-free brownie points!
Eat clean, be seen, repeat.
And yet, whilst that 'accidental' bite of popcorn chicken that no one saw you buy from KFC hits the side of your stomach like sweet nirvana, we can't help but start to wonder.... ' when will this meat-free phase ever end?!'

Veganism. Easy right?

A little insight before making any serious lifestyle changes - don't do whatever a # tells you to.

Do however, feast your eyes onto my post-appropriately placed purse.

Looks like leather, feels like leather, maybe even smells like leather but boy, it ain't leather!
Made using only (and I stress) 100% vegan and sustainable materials - let's talk recycled plastic bottle tops - the latest addition to my rekindled Matt & Nat love affair allows not only for guilt-free splurging but paves the way for a style of living that's easy enough to swallow. Would ya hashtag that?!

A long overdue comeback from the Canadians straight to the UK. Guys I've missed you.

Jonathan Horowitz - 304.8cm paintings

Guess who's back. Back again.

Whoops. My mistake, wrong celeb.

I could make more pertinent lyrical references but I'll leave that to your own creative little minds.

Snap back to reality (there I go again) and this pop-cultured piece belongs to native New Yorker and contemporary media artist Jonathan Horowitz.
Just as Marilyn was to Warhol well over sixty years ago; Beyonce has found herself ascending to a similar height of diptych fame

Part of the 304.8cm instillation currently on exhibition at what is fast becoming one of my favourite London haunts - the Sadie Coles HQ gallery; snake your way into the main gallery and you too can bow down to a multitude of Bey's 10ft face.

Then again, nothing beats my first trip to the Sadie HQ. A room filled with animated body parts courtesy of Angus Fairhurst, dating from 1995 - 2001, respectivly.

Little left to the imagination..

Copenhagen Fashion Week via Style.com

When in Denmark...

Eat beige, wear black, be happy.

By definition the happiest nation of Scandi-lously chiselled men and women, who seek nothing more than a Jaegersborggade kaffe and the occasional Acne fix.

It works for them.

Four days of Danish street style protocol, a private viewing at CPHFW and one and half pastries later; I've swapped the heels for something more Stanley, put away my pennies for a shiny new bicycle and turned to Nordic au-natural - raw diet included.

A Northern girl with a Nordic heart ay Dursk?

 Like I said.

Vingil Collection Moroshka

Soon to be migrating in a north-Easterly direction, so whilst those back on British soil slowly but surely begin to shorten hems and remove layers, I can continue to engulf my entire self in pure wool.

Somebody has to like the cold.

And, my dears, that short straw was picked by me.

Translate 'Chunky Knit' into near-on perfect Russian and you'll find you're left with Muscovite Xenia Kigaeva and her seemingly high-profile outerwear and accessories label Vingil.

Sourcing heavy-wollen cardigans, sweaters and cosy accessories; a collection of opulent layering that is custom made and can also come in your favoured hue.

Ship. Me. Over.

Then again, I can't help but think...

The sheep in Russia. They must be bleedin' freezing.

The 'one-post-per-month-but-it's-completely-unintentional' phase.
The result of either a total apathetic interest in further writing (sorry blogging) or, in my case, a busy schedule filled up with those so-called 'thing's to do'.

Since when did I become so time constrained?

I must be growing up.

 fuck.

New month's resolution. Yes, you can have those. To put into words what my photographic skills on social media show you. And in more than one, perhaps two, posts.

Starting with that running Insta-commentary I like to call my solo trip to Copenhagen.

Aren't you lot in for a treat.

Joan Didion by Juergen Teller for Céline SS15

Céline, Céline, Céline.

Forever one sneaker lead step ahead of the rest.

Although, something tells me not even the devoutest of Philo-Fanatic saw Didion coming.

'Breaking the internet' after, oh let's see - six days into the New Year; Phoebe has once again proven that the prêt-à-porter design house are still as enviously simplicit and in-vogue as ever.

An ad campaign that confirms intelligence will always remain at the height of fashion?

Ladies, we'll take it.

And so as the law of Universal Balance states...

If you are so much as to pilfer a bag of Brazil nuts whilst intoxicated, then the Universe will rob you of a Comme des Garçon classic right at the scene of the very same crime.

Carelessness and cosmic principality have resulted in an unwelcome awakening to my current state of 'Stale-bag Syndrome'. Whilst some lucky Central-liner is about to have a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year with their new found goods; I have come to the conclusion that my arm could do with some sweeter tasting candy.

Small Tan | Shearling Large | Black Strap

But at a time when the high-street is in an annual state of consumer overload and Polyvore has become known as Poly-so-unhelpful; what else can a bag-less lady do but turn to social media for a little Depop-ing and InstaShopping?

London-based but appearing on news feeds the world over; Ante Memoria is a label new to the scene only just this year but is already expectant to become a well known name amongst minimalist aficionados.

Brainchild of London College of Fashion MA student and 'one to watch' Jessica Wakeman; the brand produces a line of ready-to-wear, simple but beautifully hand crafted clutch bags, that not only look good with your everyday wardrobe but I'm guessing even better strategically placed next to a soya mocha.

Nothing wrong with that...

Promising myself never to be so negligent with my belongings ever again; my order for the small shearling Open Ceremony-esk number arrived with its very own message of thanks and a slightly subliminal 'drink responsibly'.

The sign did read 'Back in one month' right?

Right.

Time, as well as my accomplished pre-seasonal wardrobe, flies when I'm having fun, and that Berliner weekend break has certainly opened up my eyes to the way of the minimalist German.

Low-key Londoner meet the effortless continental - just don't forget to include a little of those Northern roots.

Karlie Kloss by Alique and Saskia van Langevelde for Vogue Netherlands Oct 2014

The singular life never looked so good.

Who's the loneliest number now?

Riding the Sartorial Waves - Eliza.

Combining surfer-chic with city-cool and all under one very, very stylish roof.

Eliza? Shall we go on?

I guess my style is very laid back - I just try not to overthink it.
I'd say I'm a mix of washed-up and beachy but then meets the city and I always aim to get the staple pieces right; a good jumper or a good pair of jeans, as well as choosing the right cut and shape. My travels have influenced my look a lot and I like to keep and collect elements of holidays in my outfits.
Overall I think I have quite an eclectic and nostalgic style.

You could say so yeah. So far I've been to South East Asia, Southern Africa and Western Europe, mainly so in Portugal, which has some great scenery - perfect for capturing amazing photos.
When I was in Thailand I found a lot of stunning jewellery and hand-made leather pieces, and whilst in Africa I picked up some beautiful printed cloth and loads of hand-crocheted garments.
I do sometimes dream of becoming a Buyer. Sourcing out amazing things and then bringing them home - I just the love warm climates and the customs that come with them.
In the future I really fancy the US. Start off in San Fran and go right around Arizona through to Texas. Think of the second-hand little gems you could gather!

I'm generally inspired by the Wild West and retro America. I've always, always been in love with the 1970s and skate, surf and beach culture so yeah, I'd say I think there is an essence of each of these things in the way I dress. My style icons... Farrah Fawcett circa the original Charlie's Angels! Her and probably any mermaid, any pirate and any cowgirl!

I've lost count! Last time I checked I had about twenty?
I was only sixteen when I got my first one and to be honest I very much dislike it but I don't regret it.
Tattoos represent chapters in our lives, and shouldn't necessarily be hated on!
I do have many favourites though and I don't think I could choose just one. A lot of my tattoos represent the sea because I grew up by and lived along the coast until I was eighteen. I have a lot of random stuff too, of course. I'm particularly found of my hand tattoos as they're the ones I see the most - I can't escape them!
I love to soften them up by always having my nails coloured and piling on interesting bracelets and rings.
In a way I'm blessed as my sister and god friend Ben are the ones who often get to tattoo me!

It's definitely a bit of both. Celebrities will forever continue to start off trends - that's pop culture. Still though, there is a definite impact from the fashion and art worlds too.
I sure hope people's opinions have changed?!
Surely by now tattoos don't just represent scallywags and naughty boys?
Tattooing is another form of expression and incorporates into fashion very nicely.
I love, love, love the juxtaposition with tattoos and premium dresses on women. It's wonderful to see and really breaks that cringe mould that only tattooed people are all rock and roll ya know? And with soft tailoring, I love the way the clothes smarten up the tattoos and yet all at once the tattoos are roughening the clothes back down.

Well I studied Fashion Promotion at UCA Epsom, whilst also doing some odd spots of interning and assisting all in fashion based environments.
I've always been a visually expressive person and have had a keen eye for things. I find it fascinating that if we want to, we can all express and create identities and characters through the way we dress - it's very powerful.
Although I do have strong interests in photography; soon after graduating I found myself falling into styling work. It came so naturally to me so I just went with it.
From there I went travelling and muddled through some styling work until I finally enjoyed my role with Topshop - I've been a stylist with them for a year now.

Fuck! It's a dream.
The start to every morning is like a fashion show. It makes getting up to the sound of an alarm completely worth while! To see the thought and total consideration go into each innovative 'Outfit of the Day' is inspirational and very exciting.
All the gals at work each have a complete uniqueness and that alone makes it a really creative place to be.
I get struck on a daily basis and am literally kept on my toes! Here there is never the fear of falling stagnant, it's always so new and fresh.

I would love to dress... the US models Audrey Kitching and Kelley Ash and I think Solange Knowles - I reckon I'd have a lot of fun too.
I can definitely see beyond my own style and enjoy taking a step into someone else's when I'm working with them.

A fedora, good jeans, chunky knitwear, and boots complete with a Cuban heel.
I'm going to enjoy this season's colour palette of deep browns, red wines, camels, tans and forest greens. As for fabric? I want suede, snake skin, leather, good old knitwear and denim.

Drinking tea, taking photos and laying about with my cats!
I listen to a lot of funk, soul and 1960s psychedelic surf music, all whilst dreaming about the beach and good parties.
I'll browse Etsy, collect nice images on Pinterest and see the ol' boyfriend and friends.
I'm very peaceful.
Laid back vibes all the way!
